Healing from trauma

Connecting with my mind, connected me to my body

Connecting with my body connected me with every muscle and nerve.

connecting to connect

to heal

to love

My trauma and pain gently nestled in every part of every muscle and nerve.

Encasing it in my body, my ego stopping me from pushing past it.

Pain that tells many stories.

pain from betrayal

pain from heartbreak

pain from inadequacy

pain from abuse

My womb trauma so tight, and detached

hollow

The gateway to my whole body

broken

The two separate parts of my body acting as one, but both functioning in different dimensions.

Sometimes the pain is from this life, sometimes it is passed on from generation to generation, by words, actions, doing, we subconsciously and sometimes consciously are handed this gift of trauma, trauma from previous generations, & lived trauma.

my trauma sat energetically in my body

~manifesting

I pushed my body to its limits

I sought perfection

my body ego fandangled my mind ego into letting it take over

my body broke down for me.

I hurt my body

my trauma taught me how

Surrender to the ego in your mind, will surrender the ego in your body & allow consciousness to spread.

Let.

Go.

5 benefits of meditation

We have all heard it before. Meditating is not for me! It’s too frustrating and hard. It only is the reflection of how cacophonic our lives sometimes feel. We are often trying to get someplace quiet or leave meditation for vacations is sometimes the only option left.
Everybody who starts off meditating always has a question. How does this work?  is thinking getting in the way of meditating? Oh, wait no, I can’t meditate. But the beauty of meditation is the fact that even just taking out 5-10 mins in a day to relax your mind or to even give it a center can do wonders!
Meditation helpin bringing your mind and body aware of what you are feeling in the present. To be able to distinguish your emotions as well as give yourself permission to feel truly in the moment and recognize it.

Here are 5 amazing benefits of Meditation

Focusing on the present -
While this might seem a really cliched point. It’s 100 percent on the money. At the beginning of Meditations, you could feel jittery or distracted by thoughts. But the idea is to just observe them and notice how you feel in the present

Solving problems and creativity -
Meditation has been said to lead to higher brain integration, thanks to breathwork and concentration. Even if it is just for 10 mins, it helps you be calmer in situations that might be stressful and be able to deal with it better.

Meditation helps in easing pain -
Meditations such as Mindfulness meditation have been known to help with chronic discomfort such as neck and back pain, arthritis, recurring headaches. Meditation helps in opening up your senses, it helps in isolating and relieving parts of your body and mind that feel or are knotted.

Meditation helps you heal faster -
meditation may help to restore the body’s balance. It helps you to align yourself and your mind so it can work better for you. You must be familiar with “what you eat is what you become” well adding meditation to this diet only has pros!

Meditation helps you sleep better -

Sleep is one thing that human beings love and seem to be running away from it quite often. Just 10 mins of meditation before you go to sleep helps you relax your body and allows you to fall asleep faster.

Hope these benefits help you in some way in your meditation journey. At Somaticayoga, you get guided somatics sessions, which is a meditative and mindful form of exercises. Exercises for every age. 6 to 86.

Somatics is a form of exercise that can be done by any age. Whether it’s your young child or your old parent/grandparent, anyone can learn to move intentionally. Somatics is not just to recover from injuries, but also to learn your mind and body’s connection. So you can live better and have a clearer mind.

Take a look at my youngest student with her grandfather, doing Somatics movements. Learning at a young age, gives you a greater chance of succeeding in future because adults are more averse to learning as opposed to kids. Kids are like sponge, they absorb everything around them. So if you have a kid, make sure to enrol them for Somatics to help guide them through understanding the capabilities of the body. And for everyone else, it’s never too late to treat your body better. Start today.

Contact me at somaticsyoga@gmail.com for consultation and sessions. People in Mumbai, India may avail in-person offline sessions as well.

Teenagers, and posture. #2

One of the most prevalent complaints of adults throughout the world is back pain. Most people experience back pain at some point in their lives, and this comes down to poor posture. But a newer generation is now facing this problem…teenagers.

What is this problem caused by?
More and more teenagers now spend their day sitting down. Either in front of a television, a computer, a gaming console, or even a study-desk. Growing teens being glued to their phones is also a fairly common sight now.

This causes something called the “text neck”. The text neck is a posture where we see a forward head posture due to neck misalignment, where the shoulders are rolled forward and slouched caused by being hunched over screen.

That begs the question. What is good posture?
Posture can be defined as the way in which you hold yourself. Good posture ensures that all of your bones and joints are aligned properly and prevents excessive strain on the muscles. Good posture involves having a neutral spine.

What does bad posture do?
Bad posture leads to an ever growing prevalence of a pain-points in their lives. Things like back pain, headaches, and lack of energy to do things. This can be very harmful to young teens, carrying over to their adult lives.

What are the benefits of good posture?
When you stand and sit with your body properly aligned, all your organs can function as intended. Your bones and spine can easily support your body’s weight. Making you breathe better, look better, and function better.

Can poor posture be improved?
Definitely. With just a little help, you can understand what is going wrong, then with some discipline and perseverance you can get it right. You will feel the positive changes almost immediately as well. Yoga is a great way to do this. With Yoga, we learn to understand our body, tweak our posture and get in tune with how our own body moves and responds.

Somatics Yoga makes you intentional about your movements, and helps you understand how you hold yourself. It is all about making yourself better.
So if your teenager is facing difficulties standing or sitting straight, simply contact us. We can help you lead a healthier life.

Remember today’s mantra:
Stand straight, show confidence, stay powerful.

Somatics Chair Exercises

Somatics is a versatile form of exercise. It not just helps the fit get fitter, but it also helps recovering patients ease back into normality.

Today, we shall talk about Somatics Chair Exercises. It is a variation of Somatics that helps people in their recovery process by moulding the exercises to their range of motion.

One of my clients cannot get down to the floor, or back up on her feet comfortably. Neither can she lie on the floor comfortably, flat or supine. Normal Somatics exercises for her can be a little troublesome in this case. This is when Somatics Chair exercises come into play. These help her heal while also fitting in her range of motion. Take a look at this guided session and see the difference:

HINA’S TIP OF THE DAY:

This new year, pick your spot, sit on a chair and take a deep breath. Live intentionally, and make some time for peace.

Anxiety Relief

Here’s something most of us don’t know. Somatics Yoga, as good as it is for the body physically, is also tremendous for our mental health. The mindful, intentional exercises help alleviate anxiety at the time everything feels out of control. Don’t take my word for it, hear it straight from one of my clients benefitting from my Somatics Yoga sessions.

He is a software engineer who was suffering from acute anxiety due to his professional life. This would manifest into physical ailments too. When he came to me 3 months ago, we charted out his progress to help him gain control of his mind and body. Today, he walks with a sense of calmness and assurity. He is miles better when it comes to being in touch with himself and has gained a commendable sense of control over his mind. He is proof that we can achieve all we want by knowing ourselves better. His kind words -

“The practice has helped me gain control of my mind and my body. Slowly I was able to control my breath and use it to calm myself. Regular exercise and stretching has loosened up the tension regions in my back, neck and shoulder region. I now have a better understanding of myself and my body. I highly recommend the practice of somatics yoga, it has really brought me peace of mind.”

Hina's Tip for the Day:
