Self-Care lessons from gardening.

We are here. On our wonderful planet. And most of us would agree, our purpose is to flourish. But how can we flourish? Where do we learn how to flourish? The world doesn’t come with guidebooks. Or does it?

When a seed that we plant, does not grow or does not bear fruit, we say that the plant did not flourish. The same could be said for us. When we do not fulfill our potential, we can say that we have not flourished. So when in a rut, we can learn to turn it around from plants as well

Here are some lessons on flourishing I learned from growing an avocado plant:

This avocado was gifted to me by my friend. I decided to keep the seed and grow the plant. So what we have, keeps giving when we decide to nourish it.

When feeling down, water. Hydrate yourself.

When not blossoming, nourish. Eat well. Take care of your nutrition. Clean your diet. See the changes.

When nothing seems to be working, re-pot. Check your soil - your foundation. Find the cracks. Then rework.

Once you are growing, let your focus be unwavering. Get yourself some light, and go upwards and onwards. Be like a plant. All of your growth lies in stillness. No one will notice you growing. But one day, you will be strong as a tree. Give yourself time and patience.
